Tiny Blessings Doula

Hi, friend!

I’m Alissah, and I want to thank you for letting me be a part of your parenthood journey!

About Me

I’m a wife, mama (to two little boys, a little girl, and two angels), Jesus follower and I am a pediatric nurse-turned-doula. I LOVE what I do — caring for others, encouraging and empowering others to believe in themselves, and simply BEING there for others when they need it most.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and hosting friendly faces from my community in my home. I enjoy a good book, good food (baking it, cooking it, and eating it), and some good conversation!

I have a passion for everything birth and parenthood, for continual learning, and for finding the balance between holistic and modern medicine. I look forward to getting to know you and to use my passions to help you in your journey!

My Experience

From my years of pediatric nursing, I learned that a parent knows their child better than anyone else ever can. Through both the difficult and amazing times, parents have the unique privilege of learning all of the little things that make their child so SPECIAL. From trial and error, parents know exactly WHICH song will calm their child  down, and that the sound their kid just made means ‘kitty’ — even though, to everyone else, it sounds a lot more like ‘keekee’.

And, when it was my turn to become a mother, I got to experience that joy first hand!

However, I did learn some other things from my birth experiences. I learned that there is a huge information gap when it comes to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Even though I had been through nursing school and took care of kiddos at work — when it came to my own children, I felt like I didn’t know anything! I was desperate for information and resources, but kept coming up empty. I didn’t trust my own instincts, and I often questioned — and even doubted — my ability as a parent.

Eventually, after a bit of a bumpy start, I re-learned the lesson I’d learned as a pediatric nurse:

Parents know their kiddo best!

You, as a parent, have instincts when it comes to your little one! It may not feel like it now, but I promise they’re there. It’s my goal to provide you with the information and support you need so that you can learn to fully trust yourself and your God-given instincts. When you begin to believe in your ability as a parent, you can begin to experience the unparalleled joy of parenthood in all of its fullness.

Now, I want to make sure I’m not sugarcoating.

Parenthood is HARD. Pregnancy is hard. Birth is hard. Postpartum is hard. Breastfeeding is hard. But you are not alone! Support and education are available to help you focus on your unique and incredible relationship with your little one!
I am here to encourage, empower, and educate you in your parenthood journey because I truly believe that YOU are the best parent for your baby and that YOU are capable. I know you may not feel like it yet, but YOU’VE GOT THIS!
